《The Fo Guang Shan University Consortium: Integrating resources from seven universities》
Venerable Master Hsing Yun prioritized “Education” in his diverse approach when propagating Buddhist truth. The first social educational institution that Venerable Master Hsing Yun founded was the Tzu Ai Kindergarten in Yilan in 1956, and he continued building educational institutions, including high schools and elementary schools worldwide until the University of the West was founded in the year of 1990, as the beginning of higher education and based on the philosophy of venerable Master Hsing Yun “keeping wisdom to myself and leaving the university in the world”, so the following 4 universities: Nanhua University in Chiayi; Fo Guang University in Yilan; Nan Tien Institute in Australia; and the Guang Ming College in the Philippines because of the continuous effort of the “Million-member Fundraising Campaigns as the contributions to thank to the generous donors over the world.

After contributions for more than 20 years, the five universities have integrated resources to jointly establish the FGS International University Consortium as the first transnational and transcontinental international joint university system. The Fo Guang Shan University Consortium has initiated many projects such as teacher and student exchange program, cross-enrollment, distance learning, overseas study and dual-degree academic system, and it promotes industry-university cooperation to enhance employment, and promoting overseas study to enhance international mobility, thus this approach helps students fulfill their dream to work overseas. The power of university education is taking as the greatest resources from Fo Guang Shan educational system.
