Attendees included Venerable Miao Fan, Chancellor of the Fo Guang Shan Institute of Humanistic Buddhism; Venerable Miao Kuang, Executive Secretary of the Center and Secretary of the Office of the Founding Master of Fo Guang Shan; Venerable You Zhen, a guiding teacher at Fo Guang University; and Venerable Miao Shu, a member of the Fo Guang Buddhist Canon: Literature and Arts Canon editorial team.
Venerable Tzu Hui encouraged the Center’s team to highlight Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s lifelong dedication to promoting Humanistic Buddhism and his exceptional contributions to the institutionalization, modernization, and internationalization of Buddhism. Through the forthcoming construction of the Venerable Master Hsing Yun Digital Humanities platform, the Center aims to preserve the Venerable Master’s wisdom and achievements, utilizing intelligent search tools to showcase his philosophy of Humanistic Buddhism, his remarkable accomplishments, and his profound influence on the history of Buddhism.
Venerable Tzu Hui meticulously planned every detail of the establishment of Fo Guang University, from every blade of grass and tree to every brick and tile. The journey of founding the university was fraught with challenges, encompassing environmental assessments, slope stabilization, campus construction, and spatial design. Upholding Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s principles and vision, Venerable Tzu Hui’s wisdom is evident in every aspect of the university. Today, Fo Guang University boasts a beautiful campus, architectural designs harmonized with nature, and a comfortable learning environment, making it a stunning educational sanctuary nestled within a forest.
