FGU Hold a Remote Opening Ceremony of the M.A. Program in Hong Kong

The overseas M.A. program of Fo Guang University officially started with an online opening ceremony held in Hong Kong and Taiwan in the evening on the 22nd of May.
Chaur-Shin Yung, the President of Fo Guang University, led Jow-Fei Ho, Vice-President, Chin-Chuan Wan, Dean of Buddhist Studies, Ven. Yung-Dong, Dean of Student Affairs, Ta-Ning Hsieh, Dean of International and Cross-strait Affairs, Cheng-Tsung Kan, Chair of Buddhist Studies and teachers, along with Ven. Yong-Fu, the Head abbess of the Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen region, and Ven. Jue-Ju, the superintendent of F.G.V. HK in an online opening ceremony for 13 students in Hong Kong.
 
At the opening ceremony, President Yung expressed gratitude to all parties for their efforts, especially the support of the abbess and Fo Guang Shan Vihara.
President Yung said that Venerable Master Hsing Yung established five universities with his compassionate vows, and now the M.A. program opening in Hong Kong will be another mark in history.
 
Good things require time and effort, even the COVID-19 epidemic did not hinder everyone's determination to learn Dharma.
The President Yung praised the students who enrolled to the program for their good academic qualifications and expressed his belief that they will benefit a great deal in their further studies. The connection between practical life and Buddhism will always be a cherished time in their journey through life.
 
Ven. Yong-Fu, the Head abbess of Hong Kong, Macao and Shenzhen region, expressed that the original intention of Venerable Master Hsing Yung to establish universities was to spread moral concepts and humanistic qualities and to become an outstanding university with moral teachings. It is expected that the students are going to study happily, grow through their hard work, and benefit from their learning in the future.
 
The dean of Buddhist Studies, Dr. Chin-Chuan Wan, encouraged the students to start from today, to stay determined to pay the price and sacrifice leisure time for their studies.
 
Ven. Yong-Fu started the first class “Buddhist Demeanors” after the opening ceremony. Ven. Yong-Fu began the course with Buddha titles and terms. The students look forward to the easing of the epidemic and to a return to face-to-face learning with their teachers.
