Department of Future Studies and LOHAS Industry

Facing the challenges of Mother Earth running out of natural resources, and human losing balance for their body and soul, the concept of “LOHAS” (Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability) has become a trend of the new era. According to the Strategic Plan of National Development, our country also put environmental sustainability and LOHAS land as important issues.  The motto of Fo-Guang University -- Righteousness, Uprightness, Way and Compassion also stresses the educational goal of altruism.  Plus the advantage of being located amidst the beautiful nature of Ilan county, Department of Future Studies and LOHAS Industry was established in the year of 2012.

The Department combines futurology and LOHAS theories. Besides cultivating students of Health and Environment Protection professions, the ability of foresight, innovation, and planning is also emphasized. Health Promotion, Complementary Therapy, Health Care, LOHAS Tourism and Environmental Education are the areas of academic interests , while interdisciplinary courses are designed to correspond to the global trend. 

After graduation, students can begin their career in LOHAS-related fields, such as health management, bio-energy test and analysis, aromatherapy, care attendant, case management, tourism planning and design, environmental education and commentary, etc., while possessing the ability of planning, statistics and trend analysis at the same time.
