College of Lohas Industries
LOHAS stands for lifestyles of health and sustainability, and the LOHAS concept also echoes the Eastern philosophy of life and promotes the development of the LOHAS industry in the Eastern society. LOHAS study is the theory, practice and application of the development of the whole person from the body, mind, and soul to the sustainable development of future social groups. LOHAS industry refers to the industry enabling people living in the healthy and sustainable lifestyles.
The LOHAS industry covers five major industrial fields, including personal development, alternative healthcare, healthy lifestyle, sustainable economy and ecological lifestyle. Fo Guang University established the first in the world the College of LOHAS Industry to promote and implement the concept of LOHAS through cultivating students with LOHAS philosophy and knowledge and practical skills that can help developing the LOHAS Industry.
College of LOHAS Industry was established in August 2013, with the Department of Health and Creative Vegetarian Science and the Department of Future Studies and LOHAS. The Department of Health and Creative Vegetarian Science is the first in Taiwan, with the aim of cultivating professional talents with healthy and creative concepts and practical skills required in the vegetarian industry, and with the hope to inject the concepts of health and sustainable living into the vegetarian catering industry.
The Department of Future Studies and LOHAS is aimed at cultivating students with forward-looking and innovative thinking. The goal of the department is to cultivate new-age talents with technology integration, future studies and expertise of LOHAS industry.
