【International Academic Conference】 Vietnamese Buddhism and Manuscripts: Collection, Compilation, and Research

Conference Objectives:

Following the eastward transmission of Buddhism, the religion deeply influenced the Vietnamese people and became a predominant faith. Throughout the prolonged turmoil and wars of the early 20th century, Buddhism served as a spiritual pillar for the nation. In recent years, with Vietnam's economic takeoff following its reforms, the resulting material satisfaction and broadening of intellectual horizons have led to an increased demand for spiritual fulfillment. People now have the capacity to care more about their living environment and society.

Consequently, in the 21st century, Buddhism is no longer limited to daily chanting, cultivation, or the observance of rituals; the domestic academic community in Vietnam has initiated deeper research and exploration, opening a new chapter in the field.

In addition to the International Academic Conference on June 1, we aim to enhance the Taiwanese academic community's understanding of current Vietnamese Buddhist research and assist Vietnamese graduate students in Taiwan in mastering research resources. Therefore, we have specially invited Vietnamese scholars and Dharma masters to Fo Guang University on June 3 for special lectures and a roundtable forum. This will facilitate direct face-to-face communication and pave the way for future cooperation!
